Mexico air arrivals up 8.5%
Air
arrivals to Mexico grew 8.5% from January through August this year,
compared with the same period in 2012, according to statistics released
by the Secretary of Tourism.
From Jan. 1 through Aug. 31, 8.11 million foreign visitors arrived by air in Mexico, compared with 7.47 million in 2012.
August air arrivals jumped 12.1% compared with numbers in August 2012.
Top country of origin was the U.S., accounting for 5.55 million tourists from January through August, an increase of 8.9% over the same period a year ago.
Visitor traffic to Mexico also increased from Colombia, Russia, Peru and China during the first eight months of the year.
