Riviera Nayarit Leader In Growth, Investment and Occupancy Rates

Riviera Nayarit has positioned itself at the top of the national ranking in growth of available rooms and occupancy rates, and in attracting tourism investments.
Only in 2013, the Federal Government has invested $21.26 million USD on the CIP’s (Integrally Planned Centers) of Fonatur and in the new developments under construction in Nuevo Vallarta and all along Riviera Nayarit. 
 
With over 300 kilometers of coastline in the Mexican Pacific, Riviera Nayarit has plenty of room to grow, as the ongoing construction of more than 10 tourism projects can attest. 
 
While that’s about the offer, Riviera Nayarit is also leading the country in occupancy rate and the Tourism Secretary informed that since 2011 the beach destination with the biggest infrastructure growth is Nuevo Vallarta. 
 
Based in the average of available rooms that form the tourist offer, the estimated growth in Nuevo Vallarta since 2011 has been of 26.9%; in other words it has gone from having 5,988 available rooms in 2011, to 7,597 in 2013. 
 
In the average occupancy rate ranking, Nuevo Vallarta is again at the top of the list. In 2011 it had an average of 2,659 occupied rooms, compared with the 4,087 occupied rooms in 2013. Numbers that show an increase of 53.7%, putting Nuevo Vallarta well ahead of second place Cancun with an increase of 37.9% and Rosarito with 24.2%.
 
There is no doubt that since the launching of the Riviera Nayarit brand, the region has seen a boost in both investments and occupancy rates. The recent efforts to work in collaboration with its neighbor Puerto Vallarta, hopefully will serve to keep growing as a tourism destination.
