Puerto Vallarta Is Best Pacific Coast Retirement Choice: HuffPost

Puerto Vallarta has once again
been recognized for its world-class lifestyle and infrastructure, this
time was Huffington Post journalist Kathleen Peddicord, who labeled our
town as the best place to retire in the whole Pacific Coast.
On her article “The Best Right-Now Pacific Coast Retirement Choice”,
Miss Peddicord made an extensive review of the retirement options along
the Pacific Coast, analyzing the pros and cons of cities in Costa Rica,
Nicaragua, Panama, Ecuador and Mexico.
And while she acknowledges that some other towns have their advantages, namely that they are cheaper, she reminds her readers that those are “still emerging destinations, especially Nicaragua and Ecuador.”
Then she focused in Puerto Vallarta, her “top recommendation”. Miss Peddicord acknowledges that Puerto Vallarta “is neither the cheapest retirement choice in the world nor the cheapest option within Mexico”, but her point is that it is cheaper than the cost of living in Newport Beach, for example.
According to her, Puerto Vallarta is not comparable to those emerging destinations in Nicaragua and Ecuador, a renowned journalist from the most-read newspaper in the world, compared Puerto Vallarta lifestyle to that of California!
The next two paragraphs should be included on any Puerto Vallarta promotional brochure:
“I heard someone recently compare the Pacific coast of Ecuador with the coast of Orange County. That's silly. Comparing the California's coast with the Pacific coast of Mexico around Puerto Vallarta is not. This stretch of Mexico's Pacific coastline has already been developed to a high level. Life here can be not only comfortable, but also fully appointed.
This is a place to come to enjoy a world-class Pacific coast lifestyle. Note that I didn't say that this is a place to come to enjoy a world-class Pacific coastline. A coastline, no matter how beautiful, is not a lifestyle; these are two different things. You can find beautiful stretches of Pacific coastline in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and Ecuador. What you don't find in those places is a developed lifestyle to support the views.”
And it’s true, here we have it all; world-class beaches, world-class golf courses, three stunningly beautiful marinas, an incredible diversity of top-notch gourmet restaurants, excellent shopping options, and great connectivity with North America.
“This is a lifestyle that is available only on a limited basis worldwide, a lifestyle that is truly (not metaphorically) comparable to the best you could enjoy in southern California...if you could afford it.”
Even when Miss Peddicord talks mostly of Puerto Vallarta, she is aware of the development of Nuevo Vallarta and the whole Riviera Nayarit:
“The government has supported private investment in this region over time, and now it has refocused its attention here, specifically on the stretch of coast running for about 100 miles north from Nuevo Vallarta.”
It’s always nice when somebody (that’s not paid to do so) say great things about the place where we live in. Even more, when it comes from a recognized journalist and it’s published in one of the most influential media in the world.
Sometimes, when you read some local media, you wouldn’t believe they are talking about the same place than Miss Peddicord. Maybe we need to re-think what we think we knew about Puerto Vallarta & Riviera Nayarit, remember why we chose this beautiful corner of the world to live in, and portray that same attitude that Miss Peddicord has towards our town.
This is the best place to live in the whole Pacific Coast period! Let’s keep it that way…
